Docosyltrimethylammonium methyl sulphate is known as BTMS, Behenyl Trimethyl Ammonium Methosulfate and Docosyltrimethylammonium Methyl Sulphate, and widely used in cosmetics and personal care products and perfumes & fragrances.

Description

From the middle of the 20th century, docosyltrimethylammonium methyl sulphate started to be the perfect ingredient of shampoos and hair conditioning products since it can moisturize and condition hair to the roots. It penetrates up to the hair shaft making hair healthier and thus easy to comb and maintain. Other chemical additives may have the same property as BTMS but are not as mild as well. In another side, BTMS does not coat the scalp and leave excess chemical build up on the surface of the scalp but penetrates hair up to the roots.

INCI Name: Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetyl Alcohol

1.It`s vegetable based, eco-friendly, and extremely mild.

2.It can be soluble in water or ethanol.

3.It is compatible with both cationic and nonionic surfactants.

4.It is stable below 100℃.

5. Overall good chemical stability, excellent resistance to heat, light and pressure, strongly resistant to both acid and alkaline
substances.

6. Excellent thickener and emulsifier .

7 BTMS is the quaternary ammonium salt that is main used as hair conditioning and antistatic agent.
